Intro on How to Use a Disney World FastPass

When you purchase your expensive Disney World tickets keep in mind that you can access something called a FastPass.  A FastPass will allow you to avoid long lines at the rides by giving you an allotted time and freeing you to enjoy other attractions during that wait time.  Trust me this is incredibly beneficial especially if you have small children who gets bored rather quickly.  So when can you start booking your rides?  Let’s find out below.

Be sure to download the Disney World App to your phone so you can get the full experience and easy access to your itinerary and FastPasses.  There are 2 ways to book your FastPasses: 60 days in advance or 30 days in advance.  If you are staying on a Disney Resort or a “qualified” Disney affiliated resort like the Hyatt Lake Buena Vista (where me and my family will be staying) you can begin booking your rides as early as 60 days out.  Now if you are staying in a regular unaffiliated Disney Resort hotel you will only be allowed to begin booking your rides 30 days in advance.  My sister who has been to Disney World at least 14 times begins booking her FastPasses 1 to 2 weeks in advance and still gets to book great rides!

Keep in mind there is a limit of how many FastPasses you can obtain per day.  Ugh, I know!  You are only allotted 3 FastPasses per day so make sure you are booking your top favorite rides first.  While you are waiting in between your rides you can always check your Disney App and find nearby rides that are not too long of a wait to buy some time until your next “appointment.”  Please note that once you finish using up your first 3 FastPasses you can book an additional FastPass one at a time for the remainder of the day (use up your first 3 rides, book 1 next ride, finish that ride book another ride, etc)!  So try to book your first 3 FastPasses as early and together as possible so you can continue to book more rides throughout the day and not have to wait in crazy long lines.

Hope this helps you on your next Disney Adventure!
