The time has come to upgrade my daughter from a toddler bed to her “big girl” bed. Where has the time gone??
While on holiday, we went into a children’s store where they had a treehouse bed and our daughter fell in love with it! We told her we’d think about it when we got back home and a few weeks later we searched and searched and finally found the one. Needless to say she was ecstatic!
Things to think about for your child’s Big Kid bed:
1) Choose a bed your child has expressed interest in or already fallen in love with.
2) Ensure it will grow with your child for the next few years. It will feel more like an investment.
3) Make sure the bed is functional and practical. Example: my daughter has a loft bed that has a house below allowing her extra room to store her toys and play in. This makes her room more spacious!
4) Ensure your child tries out the bed to get a “real” feel of what he or she will experience at home.
We all fell in love with Playhouse Loft Bed from Potterybarn Kids. I’m a huge fan of gray and whites so the color scheme was perfect for her room! The nice thing about Potterybarn Kids is that they offer a white glove service which I had never heard about, but it was fantastic because not only do they deliver the furniture but they also set it up where you want it. It took only took them 20 minutes to set up the entire bed, I was very impressed!
This bed is a dream and she is still over the moon about it. We added her white playhouse kitchenette set inside, as well as a small bench, white table, pillows and pictures of the family to make it feel like a real little house! I always wanted a bed like this as a child and being able to give it to her makes me so incredibly happy!!
