Top 5 Gifts For A Traveling Dad!

Almost 4 years ago my husband became a father and ever since then our traveling habits have changed drastically!  It is now all about packing efficiently, less equals more mentality and the ease of transportation.  I have compiled a list of the top 5 items my hubby finds incredibly helpful and useful when traveling!

Gift #1 – Duffle Bag used like a backpack

Instead of buying your husband a new carry on with wheels I promise getting him a duffle bag as a carry on is such a life changer and let me tell you why!  If you come from a family of 3 you will typically have 2 large luggage, 2 carryons, and maybe a stroller.  If your husband is like mine, I’m sure he lugs all the large luggage and his carry on which can be quite a challenge if he is trying to do it all once.  But imagine this, he has his super durable duffle bag on his back, he can push 2 large luggages, and your wheeled carryon because both hands his hands will be free!  I swear it’s the little things like this that make the biggest difference when traveling.

Gift #2 Luggage with 4 wheels

This seems like an easy one but let me tell you at baggage claim I still see so many 2 wheel luggage’s out there.  The reason your husband needs 4 wheeled luggages is because it is so much easier for him to maneuver luggage in the airport, no more fighting with a 2 wheel luggage while making turns, less weight to worry about, and if you push them just right (both luggages back to back) it is a breeze push them anywhere!  Even if you find a cart to load up the luggage or get into a taxi you still need to transport them from point A to B and that can be a challenge especially with children.  The whole point for taking trips is to have a relaxing and restful time so start from the very beginning and do whatever you can to make even that airport transport as easy as possible!

Gift #3 External battery for electronic devices

Men love anything and everything electronic and that is why this will make a great gift!  When traveling and site seeing it is so difficult to find a restaurant, cafe or store with an outlet to recharge all electronic devices.  Having an external battery to charge up your phones at any given time is idilic for hubby and everyone.  We take so many pictures while on holiday that our batteries drain very quickly so having an external battery is perfect for traveling and small enough to fit anywhere!

Gift #4 Pop socket for him

It took me months to finally convince my husband to add a pop socket on the back of his phone.  He thought it was completely useless, bulky and a waste of money UNTIL he was forced to put it on.  While on holiday he began to understand the importance of this tiny, $15 dollar concoction and is now completely hooked!  Not only is he able to hold his phone with confidence that it will not fall (I can’t count how many times he’s dropped it before this) but my daughter can hold his phone with ease as well.  It’s also great for setting down on a table to watch movies and not have to find random objects to hold up.  Such an incredible tool for dad’s especially with the kiddos around.

Gift #5 Sunglasses

Last but not least a pair of some cool shades!  Sunglasses help protect his eyes from the sun, snow, wind, sand, and so much more.  Regardless of what part of the world you travel a pair of cool shades is more helpful than not.  My husbands response to why he always carries a pair of sunglasses is “Why not?”
